The HCC Administrative Thugs Strike Again

This is the second document drop from GK Deep Throat. It's a little choppy because I converted it to text from original.

Things have not changed since I was teaching at HCC for 28 years. Dr. Stephenson sounds like the usual toxic president that follows in the tradition of Morton Shanberg and Ambrose Garner. I think all the pschologically disturbed academic weaklings have flocked to the HCC administration.

The Board must intervene. We'll see what the resources of the State government can do to insure that it does. lee

DISTRICT ADMINISTRATIVE OFFICES

Lee Drury De Cesare,

HCC administrators have made sure that your voice is not heard amongst HCC rank-and-file.

This past year, the administration has subtly pushed to eliminate hard-earned employees’
rights and benefits.

This past November, (If I gave you exact date/time/location my identity would be revealed;
I would face immediate dismissal.)

HCC vice president Barbara Larson while speaking to
HCC t, LW j —, said the following, quote: "I can see those two bookstore
documenting things against them. then said the following, quote: "I’m already on it."

Barbara Larson was most likely referring to the two HCC bookstore supervisors (Beverly
at the 11/15/06 board meeting. I enclosed for you a copy of 11/15/06 board meeting
minutes.

I’ve been with HCC for many, many years, and have witnessed administrators and their
eager and willing department heads punish those who speak a differing voice. I fear that
those two courageous bookstore supervisors will be punished for speaking out.

Back in 1999, Gwendolyn Stephenson, Sue Flaig and a bevy of managers, made up false
charges against a HCC bookstore supervisor Miriam Del Rio.

The bogus charges were
later dropped ç t..i
--i—hired attorney John W. Bakas, Jr.), but she was deliberately harassed and eventually had to file a claim with the EEOC. I enclosed for you. copies of internal HCC documents on that matter.

The lengths to which HCC administrators go to eliminate perceived threats to beyond
human decency.

Please post this letter on your blog for others to see.

4.02 Mr. Peter Rossi, a Plant City Campus Program Biologist, addressed the Board and expressed his concern regarding his position as a Program Biologist with the Florida Studies Department being reclassified from a full-time regular position to a full-time temporary position, He explained that the program had previously been funded by the College; however, it has recently been changed to self supporting through grant funding and other sources.

Ms. Watkins requested clarification regarding the difference between a full-time regular and full-time temporary position.

Ms. Sue Flaig, the Director of Human Resources, explained that a full- time regular position is funded through hard money and that a full-time temporary position is funded through auxiliary enterprises and grant [soft] monies.
Mrs. Hill inquired why the decision was made to move these positions from full-time permanent to full-time temporary positions.

Dr. Stephenson explained that hi an attempt to bring the Plant City Campus budget in line, staff felt that it was important that the Environmental Studies Program be run as a separate cost center that actually generates the revenue to pay their salaries, just like The Corporate Training Center [TCTC] is attempting to accomplish. She indicated that the program must ultimately become fully self-supporting. She explained that part of the strategy at the Plant City Campus was to add two new full-time faculty positions with the funds that were freed up with these three Program Biologist positions. Dr. Stephenson advised that she will provide the Board with a full report on this reclassification decision.

Dr. Felix Haynes, the Plant City Campus President, explained that staff has been reviewing the campus’ faculty position needs for approximately two. Dr. Haynes reminded the Board that the Institute of Florida Studies is a community service program, not an FTE generated function and the College does not receive state funding for the program.

4.03 Ms. Beverly Mueller, the Brandon Campus Bookstore Supervisor, addressed the Board and expressed her colleagues’ and her concerns regarding the Bookstore outsourcing and the Request for Proposal for same.
4.04 Ms. Leann Horwood, the Dale Mabry Campus Bookstore Textbook Supervisor, addressed the Board and expressed her concerns regarding the status of her employment, retirement, health insurance and especially what will happen to the students should the Bookstore be

Re: Miriam Nelly Del Rio

Dear Ms. Sorolis:

The College has ignored Del Rio’s requests regarding the name clearing
hearing and has sought to build a false record concerning the nature of the hearing. Del Rio again rejects such attempts and renews her previous requests.
